Builder Participation Overview:
The New American Home is financed and built by custom builders to showcase the NAHB Leading Suppliers Council members' products through in-kind donations, discounts and services. The builders assume all of the “risk and reward” to participate in the project and the homes are typically offered for sale to compensate the builder for his or her financial commitment. Therefore, the builder reserves the reasonable right to challenge a design decision or product selection that materially may hamper the eventual sale of the house. However, the builder is encouraged to work as a member of the team to set the project specifications and, of course, meet the project guidelines and schedule.
The builder also is responsible for selecting and supervising (at his/her own cost) an independent interior designer (ASID Professional Member) who also is responsible for furnishing the show home prior to the professional photography shoot, through the International Builders' Show (IBS). The builder also participates in the selection process for a variety of products to be used in and around the show home. The builder and/or his representatives must attend all task force meetings.
Builder Selection Criteria:
Any NAHB builder member who is active in the metropolitan area of the host city of the IBS may submit an application to build The New American Home. Once the Task Force determines the concept for the home (target market, approximate square footage and sales price), builder members may submit their applications.
Please note that once you submit this form, the Task Force will review your form and contact you if you are qualified to be considered for future exhibition homes.
